Artwork Description

During my first visit to Alice Springs in the Northern Territory, I visited the Simpsons Gap. Two huge hills of red rocks come close to each other, with a narrow gap and a small waterhole in the front with sandy edges immediately attracted my attention. I tried to bring this visual experience in my painting.

Sketching and painting came naturally to Ramnath from a young age; he was introduced to watercolour at the age of seven and was mentored by his school headmaster in drawing and oil painting. His portrait of Mrs Indira Gandhi (former Prime Minister of India) was appreciated and personally autographed by her.
