COMO

COMO is part of an ongoing series exploring a continuous line playing with the shapes and textures found in nature. The contours of the fallen tree bark and its markings set a playing field for the line work that's not linear or square. I love the way the orange line works with the reddish colour of the bark. Framed by darker skin layers of bark, the line works its way around the lighter layer in uniques shape determined by the bark pattern.

This original artwork piece measures roughly 48x20 centimetres. It isn't flat, and has many ridges, curves and gnarly pieces that add to its beauty. Pink Posca marker on raw fallen tree bark, finished with 2 coats of satin varnish. No hangings or fixings are included on the artwork.

One day I started doodling. A continuous line twisting and turning until it arrived back where it started, whilst filling the space. It led to a distinctive style – creating pieces that look great from across the room, but up close reflect the detail of the thousands of unconscious decisions and movements behind it. In addition to traditional canvas and paper, I love to explore new mediums to apply this style to, keeping the work fresh.
