Very much a late bloomer, I've been eager to paint most of my life, but only now that I'm retired, am I able to release this caged "animal" inside me.
Born in Wollongong, Australia, I received many an award in my early school years for my painting and sketching. I guess I've inherited this passion for painting from my father, a gifted artist, who sadly, because of WW2 and then having a young family to support, never had the opportunity to indulge his talents, so I paint in his honour, hoping he is please with me. I am very honoured to say, two of my siblings are also very talented artists, one in crafts and jewellery, the other in sketching's and painting.
I have been heavily influenced by the colours and textures of van Gogh, the vibrancy of Pollock, and the inventiveness of the Gerhard Richters and Yayoi Kusamas of this world.
I paint for myself, to express my thoughts, and speak with no words, in the hope that someone will listen and understand. I let you judge how I fared.
