Artwork Description

Tonal impressionist oil painting painted from life on a toned piece of linen.
Inspired by the early Australian Impressionists (Streeton et al) who frequented the area and painted for an extended period. Best viewed from a distance. Painted with a group of fellow artists in October 2022 after a wet Spring.

Artist Bio

Ray enjoys tonal impressionist oil painting, the study of light, in the tradition of early Australian artists (Meldrum et al). He challenges himself to keeping it simple and painterly.
Ray is a fellow and signatory member of the Victorian Artists Society and his works appear in collections in Victoria, interstate and internationally. He has also won numerous awards.
