Painting from life of old fishing boat (soon to be demolished) in the old harbour at Newlyn, Cornwall. The tidal nature of the Cornish coast creates interesting boat shapes, angles and exposes that which is usually unseen.

Ray enjoys tonal impressionist oil painting, the study of light, in the tradition of early Australian artists (Meldrum et al). He challenges himself to keeping it simple and painterly.
Ray is a fellow and signatory member of the Victorian Artists Society and his works appear in collections in Victoria, interstate and internationally. He has also won numerous awards.
