Artwork Description

Modern impressionism painting from Life. Influences include Van Gogh, Max Meldrum and Peter Smales. The painting is under glass and has a light brown matt and gold frame. I have been inspired to paint Peonies by the works of Dennis Perrin in the USA. My approach is to be 'painterly'. Brushwork is evident and its tonality is a result of many years painting. Simplicity is not easily attained.
The artwork would lift a formal area/study.

Artist Bio

Ray enjoys tonal impressionist oil painting, the study of light, in the tradition of early Australian artists (Meldrum et al). He challenges himself to keeping it simple and painterly.
