Port of Melbourne

The inspiration for this work is an en plain air painting painted off Footscray Rd of a Container ship being unloaded.
Intrigued by the mammoth size of the infrastructure and ship as well as the colours and geometric shapes, whilst keeping true to the tonality of what was before me.

Ray enjoys tonal impressionist oil painting, the study of light, in the tradition of early Australian artists (Meldrum et al). He challenges himself to keeping it simple and painterly.
Ray is a fellow and signatory member of the Victorian Artists Society and his works appear in collections in Victoria, interstate and internationally. He has also won numerous awards.
