Artwork Description

Painted from Life in the historic VAS studio in East Melbourne of Dancer Sarma as part of the Friday Group. Painted in a modern tonal impressionist style akin to the early Australian Impressionists particularly those influenced by Max Meldrum.

Artist Bio

Ray enjoys tonal impressionist oil painting, the study of light, in the tradition of early Australian artists (Meldrum et al). He challenges himself to keeping it simple and painterly.
Ray is a fellow and signatory member of the Victorian Artists Society and his works appear in collections in Victoria, interstate and internationally. He has also won numerous awards.
