Artwork Description

This painting is a tjukurrpa story that is very important to the people from Docker River. 'Kunga Kutjara' means 'Two Girls'. The story involves sensitive information that only women are allowed to know, and therefore cannot be published .

Artist Bio

Raylene Larry is from Kaltukatjara (Docker River). Raylene depicts the rockholes which surround Kaltukatjara. The rockholes are significant to the Kaltukatjara community as they provide a key water source for animal life and a cool place to swim in the summer. The story which Raylene depicts is the 'Kungka Kutjara' story, important dreaming to the women of Kaltukatjara.
