Artwork Description

Before I even dipped my paintbrush into paint I knew I wanted to create something large and bold so I put together a few concept sketches and figured out the exact dimensions I'd need for my custom sized Australian made aluminium canvas.
For this piece I wanted to create something dramatic that’s set mid action and I had no intensions on stinting on colour. Consistently incorporating elements from the current popular culture I find my artwork celebrating local celebs and local culture and this piece is no different. Here you will find Mera from Aqua Man drawn in a comic book style, battling a monster who wants to take her apple watch, obviously that's not going to happen! This all takes place in a violent rocky ocean which gives this painting a lot of energy.

This artwork is one of a kind and will never be sold as a print.

The custom sized Aluminium frame is designed and made in Sydney, its great for exposure and large variations in heat and moisture levels (Outdoors or tropical/cold climates), where tolerance for movement in the stretcher are very small, and where fire codes prevent the use of wooden stretchers.

This painting is all set up and ready to hang.

Artist Bio

I’ve loved painting since I was little and I’ve always painted in my spare time, after becoming a graphic designer and reservist in the Defence force it’s what I always return to. Now in my late 30s I’ve been dedicating my time to art, nothing beats creating something original and hanging it on a wall for all to see. I believe that art can lift a room and I aim to create pieces with a lot of vibrancy and energy using bold colours and fun textures. Acrylics are my preferred medium, I sometimes use bold colours like fluros, metallics, and moulding paste to loosen my brushstrokes and let go, this helps to give my art lift.

In this day and age everything that we look at and touch is something that’s been reproduced and I revel in making something that is one of a kind that exists nowhere else on earth. My process of creating artwork is to draw some lose sketches first then build over the top using transparency paper until I find the right composition and flow. So when you buy my art you will know you have a one of a kind unique piece of work.
