Artwork Description

Glass on glass

Signed certificate of authenticity.

This work is a social statement regarding immigration and the sadness and loneliness that sometime occurs in the plight for safety and happiness.
The medium of blown glass depicts the fragility of person- people, who through no fault of their own have lost the warmth and security of their home. Forced to seek safety elsewhere, the innocent often become targets both physically and financially in the search of this new safe place.

All art by Rebecca Hartman Kearns

Rebecca has sculped an embryotic glass form to represent the innocence and fragility of life.
The glass form has been etched giving the glass a satin texture.
She has incorporated rocks and stones, found objects such as images and fabric found in the family home.
The embriotic form rests delicately on this mound of rubble exposed to the outside elements.
