Artwork Description

Australian Landscape Benson Peak Tasmania is an expressive mixed media interpretation of the rugged Tasmanian landscape, inspired by the layered forms, shifting light and quiet strength of Benson Peak. Rather than depicting the scene in a literal way, this work explores the feeling of the place — its vastness, elevation and changing conditions.

Built through layered acrylic paint, gestural marks, line work and textured passages, the artwork captures rolling landforms, distant peaks and vegetation in motion. Earthy greens, soft ochres and muted blues are balanced with energetic marks and areas of abstraction, reflecting the dynamic relationship between land, weather and time.

This piece sits comfortably between landscape and abstraction, inviting the viewer to experience the terrain through memory and atmosphere rather than precise detail. It is ideal for collectors who appreciate contemporary Australian landscapes, expressive mixed media work and art that conveys a strong sense of place.

The A2 scale makes this artwork well suited to framing as a statement piece or inclusion in a curated gallery wall.

Artist Bio

Hello, and thank you for being here — it truly means a lot to me that you’ve taken the time to connect with my work.

I create layered mixed media pieces that explore resilience, serenity, and our deep connection with the natural world. My art is a response to the chaos of modern life — an invitation to pause, breathe, and rediscover the quiet strength that lies beneath the noise.

I live in the Mid West of Western Australia with my mum and my two beautiful, crazy teenagers. Together with our loyal dog Tilly and our hilarious, sensitive goat Charlie, we enjoy a life surrounded by an extraordinary landscape. We are grateful every day to live among the trees and to be greeted each morning by the songs of birds. This connection to place and nature flows into everything I create.

My process begins with words — writing and mark-making that capture how I feel and what I give myself permission to be. These become the unseen foundation of each work. From there, I build layer upon layer using collage, acrylic paint, acrylic ink, oil pastel, chalk pastel, and finally oil paint. Each medium adds its own voice, creating depth and movement while balancing energy with stillness.

The landscapes of Western Australia — from the ancient forms of the Kimberley to the delicate resilience of native flora and birdlife — continually inspire me. These elements ground my practice in place while also carrying universal themes of endurance, connection, and renewal.

My work has been exhibited in group shows, and each piece is presented with care — professionally mounted, framed, and ready for display in homes, galleries, and collections.

At its heart, my art is about offering sanctuary: a moment of reflection and calm within the layers of life. I hope each piece carries with it the same sense of stillness and quiet joy that I find in creating it.

In stillness and joy,
Rebecca
