Two Boots No Idea is the illustrative and short animation project of darby (born Rebecca Jade O'Brien)- a prolific musician and diverse creative currently located in Fitzroy, Melbourne. Her painting and daily sketch practise flourished when she was accepted into Alpha House Artist Co-operative in Newtown, Sydney in 2019. It was there, darby began sketching her fellow musician pals at gigs on napkins and coasters or scrap bits of paper gifting them to the artists after the show in a prolific graduation to realising her own style.
darby has curated private gallery viewings at her studio in Newtown Sydney that she shared with now Spain based beat painter Presley-Joy Paget. The pair opened their inner west studio to the public on multiple occasions, selling their work and curating together for a period of three years. darby has been involved in various group shows in Newtown Sydney before selling the majority of her small paintings to fund her interstate move to Melbourne in early 2022.
Commissioned for her self-taught illustrative themed animation music videos, posters as well as murals and paintings, darby is working towards exhibiting her next collection in 2023.
