Artwork Description

A wonderful wildlife photographer Christine Vella took this picture of this striking bird. Common to many areas of southern Australia including Tasmania, these birds are a wonderful presence in gardens as they feed on nectar. The bright unfocused background contrasts to the mostly black and white patterns of the feathers. There is a flash of brigh yellow in the feathers. This painting will bring nature into the room.

Artist Bio

I am a keen and enthusiastic observer of nature. I paint in acrylics, watercolour but also explore digital art. My passion is the wild places where nature excels. I delight in highlighting the beautiful and striking coastal, mountain and forest scenes - to make them accessible to all. I will continue to donate art to charities - the joy and benefits of art should be shared.

My art is influenced by a background of decades as a marine biologist and naturalist. I feel a strong emotional connection to my subjects. Through my art, I strive to introduce the beauty of Australia's scenic wonders to everyone. If possible, I want to transport you to wonderful places, real and imaginary.

My favourite subjects include Australia’s natural treasures including the Bay of Fires, the Twelve Apostles and Cradle Mountain National park. From the glorious red rocks to the misty forests – I have a need to paint it all – so you can see it, feel it, and it can become part of your home and your life. Can I paint something that you would enjoy? Let me provide you with an image that will transport you to the wonderful wild places.
