Artwork Description

The sulphur-crested cockatoo is another iconic Australian native bird found in wooded habitats. They are also seen in New Guinea and some of the islands of Indonesia. They can be locally very numerous, leading to them sometimes being considered as pests. This is a noisy and conspicuous cockatoo, both at rest and in flight. I had a close friend who bred them and yes, I can certainly verify their level of noise factor. Earplugs please ☺ Carl is, however, very cultured and wouldn’t cause you any noise at all. Take him home and see for yourself!

Artist Bio

Regina won her first art prize for a landscape watercolour when she was just 12 years old. Having recently migrated to Australia with her parents and two brothers from the Philippines, she found art a welcome escape from the realities of her daunting new life in an unknown country.

Flash forward some 40 years later, her passion for art, which lay dormant for most of her adult life, was quickly resurrected, when her daughter bought her a scrapbook and some pastels on a whim, for her birthday.

With renewed energy, she quickly moved from pastels to acrylics, oils and mixed media on canvas, being her preferred mediums she still uses today.

Despite her relatively short time back on the art scene, Regina has quickly built up a loyal following, particularly for her commissioned pet portraits. With the motto to ‘create smiles on people’s faces’ through her art, Regina is known for her vivacious personality and diversity of work, which stretches from traditional oil landscapes through to her most recent work – a whimsical series entitled ‘The Flamingoes’.

With two adult daughters and two young grandchildren, Regina now lives in the northern side of Brisbane along with her puppy "Bella".
Art Inspirations can be found all around her with Kedron Brook nearby along with its surrounding nature-filled landscapes and bustling eco system. Birds are plentiful much to her delight.
