Crafting images from her dreams, landscapes from her memory and/or sketches from everyday life, Rei’s work aims to evoke the sense of nostalgia for something that is within memory but beyond reach, a spiritual longing for a place which maybe never was.
She expresses through subtle light and shadow to create a narrative within the image.
Rei practices predominantly in the style of contemporary realism using mainly oil paint or watercolour, and mainly works in figurative / portraiture and landscapes.
Rei has had works exhibited in NSW and WA as well as in the USA.
Her works have been awarded the Julian Ashton Art School Brett Whiteley Scholarship, the Immunisation Coalition Art Prize Merit Award, the JAAS Richard and Wenda Ashton Prize and was Highly Commended for Figurative/Portraiture at the Kiama Art Society.
