Artwork Description

Evening Shadows by multi award winning artist REK continues in his finely detailed photo realistic approach to avian artwork. This piece features the largest of all Macaws - the Blue Hyacinth.

Set against a dramatic graduated backdrop of inky blues - the subject is the standout in this moody monochromatic composition. This piece is composed using a photo realistic approach with elements such the beak, eye and wrinkled skin containing multiple layers of glazing to create ultra-lifelike depth while the softness and interplay of light and shadow. The iridescent quality of the subjects feathers is expertly captured by REK using a myriad of colors to create a luminous effect.

Artist Bio

Rob Rek is a multi-award-winning professional artist and tutor, working from his studio in Brisbane since 2006.

His artworks are driven by the pursuit of perfection and focus intently on the finest details. The process of exacting the results he produces today, are skills which have taken many years of focused study and practice to refine. Using only the highest quality archival materials available, he approaches a vast array of subject matter.

His work has proliferated in recent years with regular exhibitions in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. His sought-after paintings are held in private, corporate and government collections from every corner of Australia and across the globe.
