My name is Rekha, and I am an artist based in Canberra. My creative journey began in India, where I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and spent several years working as a graphic designer.
In 2002, I moved to Sydney, Australia, and life took me in a completely different direction—I became an IT professional. Even as my career evolved, my love for art never truly left me. Recently, I’ve had the joy of returning to painting, and reconnecting with that part of myself has been incredibly fulfilling.
I paint a wide range of subjects, but I find the most inspiration in the nature around me—the landscapes, colours, and light that make Australia so unique. I also love capturing special moments from my life, especially scenes of my children, my dog, and the little everyday memories that become meaningful over time.
Many of my paintings are inspired by photographs taken by me or my family. They give me a way to revisit experiences and express them through colour, texture, and emotion. I primarily work with acrylics and watercolour, mediums that let me explore both vibrancy and softness in my work.
Art has once again become a joyful part of my life, and each painting is a reflection of the places, people, and moments that inspire me.
