Artwork Description

A very popular Aboriginal Dreamtime story. The Seven Sisters are the star cluster known as the Pleiades, they are the constellation Taurus. In my painting the Seven Sisters are grouped together and the old man is on his own. The old man wants one of the many sisters to become his wife, unfortunately they can not marry under Aboriginal kinship law. This is why the Seven Sisters keep running away, hiding and changing form to stay away from the old man. At night you can see them hiding up in the Milky Way.
