Artwork Description

Print on stretched canvas.

Every year the flat back sea turtles come to Cable Beach to lay their eggs. This is during October to March. The hatching of the turtles happen usually seven weeks after the eggs have been laid. The painting shows the eggs hatched in the middle of the painting and the sea turtles. All the colours represent the beautiful ochre pindan and aqua colours of Broome’s soil and ocean. It also represents all the patterns found in the sand at the beach and the different colours of sunset and sunrise.

The painting is such a special piece to me as it has been a huge family effort/collaboration. With my mother Matilda Blondie Pascoe, three sons, my two daughters and I. My youngest artist Lachlan helped and he was only five, my oldest was a teenager. Having three generations work together, laugh, get frustrated, give each other advice was so fun working together as a family. It’s taken nearly a month to complete with non stop work. We are so pleased and proud of the end result and it has been the most beautiful piece we have all done together. We can do custom sizes to fit your space.
