Artwork Description

This painting was created in preparation for an Art Demonstration I did for the Ringwood Art Society, created in Art Spectrum Pigmented Inks on Art Spectrum Draw and washpad Smooth 210gsm paper.
Once painted, I overlaid the painting with semi continuous line work (scribble) using the pigmented ink in black, applied with a calligraphy pen.
Framed in a raw oak frame with the artwork floating above the matting.

Artist Bio

Officially: Narrm Land (Melbourne, Australia) based Contemporary Wildlife and Pet Portrait Artists.
Unofficially: A Scribbler

Self-taught artist, Renée Mitchell’s finely-hones line work reference a detailed knowledge of technical drawing combined with a love of expression and movement.

A passion for pens and a love of freedom and movement can be seen in Mitchell’s largest body of works. In her Scratch Series wildlife pieces and still life alike show fine detail and lose line working together in harmony to bring the subject to life. A portion of these work combine pen and acrylic paint offering a mixed media contemporary take on the traditional portrait and still life.

Mitchell has competed and won first, second place and highly commended in multiple art shows in Victoria and New South Wales. Mitchell also competed and won first place in two out of three WetPaint competitions, and second place in the other, where she competed against local and international artists, live painting in front of an audience.

A love affair with pens resulted in the appointment of Mitchell by Artline in 2014-2016 as their Artline Pen Ambassador and her custom works. Her works are regularly exhibited in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland and are held by many private collectors both locally and internationally.
