My name is Rex Woodmore. I am a visual artist based in Western Australia.

With a name like ‘WOODmore’ it should come as no surprise that I love trees!
I began painting in 2009 when I retired from horticulture and re-forestation.
Trees were an obvious subject for my artwork. Today I am best known for my paintings of trees and for my ‘tagline’ ‘God’s creation, my inspiration’

I am grateful to my clients with my art on the walls of their homes and workplaces around the world.
Thank you also to those who encourage me in my artistic pursuits.

• My Jacaranda trees have proven particularly popular and have been reproduced on the cover of a novel by Italy’s largest book publisher Mondadori.
• The University Of Technology Sydney has ten of my Jacaranda paintings in a library book called ‘Jacaranda: the tree Australians like to claim as their own’.
• Australia’s ‘Artist’s Palette’ magazine has six pages of my paintings in issue 152.
• Talented South Australian songwriter Fiona Karamanlidis has one of my Boab tree paintings on the cover of her CD of award winning country songs.

I am a #BluethumbArtist. I hope you enjoy my work as much as I enjoy producing it.
My complete portfolio is on my http://art-sale.weebly.com
any #artwork you see there can be listed and purchased at the same price on #Bluethumb.

WHY DO I PAINT TREES? With a name like WOODmore, what would you expect?

Trees & plants have played a major part in my life.To produce the dominant blue dye used in Europe at the time, my ancestors in England grew Woad (Isatis tinctoria) and they were given the name ‘Woadmere’ (Blue Waters) which over hundreds of years has morphed into 'Woodmore'
Over 60 years ago I lived with my parents on a small farm with fruit trees surrounded by a forest of Jarrah and Banksia trees. In those days the forest was alive with birds, kangaroos, possums, foxes and introduced rabbits. We had a menagerie of farm animals and my best friends were my two beautiful Dalmatian dogs, who would wander for miles in the bush with me. It was a sad day when after eating a poisoned rabbit in the forest, they died.

I had no way of knowing that as an adult, I would be employed with a licence to collect tree seeds for mine site rehabilitation in that same magnificent forest where I once sat and attempted to sketch the now rare green bird orchids and red and yellow spider orchids.
I have propagated, nursed and planted thousands of trees, it should come as no surprise when I say “I love trees!”

Trees give us so much. They store carbon from the atmosphere and give life giving oxygen to every creature on earth. When surrounded by trees our blood pressure drops, our heart rate slows and stress levels are reduced. I hope looking at my art has the same relaxing effect on my past and future clients.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Rex Woodmore Australian Fine Art November 2018

I admire greatly and perhaps I am influenced a little by the work of Claude Monet, George Stubbs, Vincent Van Gogh, Tom Roberts, Hans Heysen and Albert Namatjira. As a boy I was fascinated by the wonderful big river gum trees drawn by Australian cartoonist and illustrator Eric Ernest Jolliffe.
