The painting is alla prima and plein air tonal impressionistic representation of the lonely cypress three that stands tall on the grasslands near my home in Viewbank.
The tree attracts me to its desolation and I have painted it a few times in different lights and weather conditions. For me, this beautiful exotic tree, surrounded by eucalyptus trees and prickly blackberry shrubs symbolizes the distance and separation one can feel being away from origins.
