This work was inspired from a desire to see the rains that fall on the cities migrate to the dry, drought ridden farms of inland Australia and to those places in the world where rain is desperately needed for many reasons...so that they could also say, "Finally, the rains came!" and find relief. I chose to paint this in abstract vertical strokes depicting the general solid, straight fall of rain - the type that drenches and soaks into the ground. The desperate humbly stay in huts outside the city edge. The colour use of occasional rust orange is a hint of how dry the ground can become without water and also to symbolise the torment of fires that die in solid rain.
