This artwork took us a while. Like, maybe months.
It started with texture, building it up, layer by layer, trying to get something with a bit of movement to it. Then came the darker blues, splotched in over the top. And for a hot minute we thought, yep, that’s it, done.
Then it just… sat there. In our studio. For ages.
Something was off but we couldn’t put our finger on what. We’d walk past it, look at it sideways, walk past it again. Started to low-key hate it, if we’re honest.
Then one day we picked up some fluro pink paint for something completely unrelated, and it was just sitting on the bench looking at us. So we thought, why not, and started flicking it across the canvas. Added a few other brighter colours in with it.
And that was it. That was the missing piece.
Everything that felt flat before suddenly had this buzz to it — like the whole thing switched on. The blues got moodier by comparison, the pink got louder, and it all just started talking to each other.
Three reworks, weeks of staring at it, and a random tin of fluro paint later… this is Fluro Frequency.
Sometimes the piece just needs time to tell you what it wants.
