This artwork was Heidi, solo. Rich was more like the support crew on this one — right by her side, cheering it on from the sidelines.
It started after a rough day. A speeding fine turned up in the mail and it just tipped things over — ended in a proper cry. And when that happens, there’s really only one thing to do: paint it out.
Not to make anything in particular. Just to feel calm again.
So late one night, brushes out, Rich close by keeping the vibe steady, it started to take shape. No plan, no reference, just following whatever felt right in the moment. Hours went by. The colours softened, the movement slowed, and slowly the whole thing turned into this quiet, floating kind of piece.
Somewhere in there it started looking like jellyfish, drifting through water. Nothing forced, nothing overthought — just what came out when the calm took over.
Funny how the pieces that start from the hardest moments end up being the most soothing ones to look at.
This one worked out perfectly for us, one of you creating, the other just being there.
