Back one winter Sunday afternoon (I was probably semi-tipsy), before heading off to work the next day, there was an urge to try something on a couple of “thin edge” canvases (I was on a budget at the time but still wanted to paint). The difference with the experiment here was painting these flat on the ground (rather than vertically, easel-style). There’s the lower-left splat, for instance. It was a fresh romp (and accompanies another not-yet published piece called “Winter Blue” of the same size). Sometimes happenings can happen quite swiftly, with surprises and delights. This is one such piece (having stood the test of time for nearly five years).
