This painting is the beginning a new ongoing body of work where I will reinterpret pictures by photographers whose work I admire, translating their images into paint.
This piece is based on a photograph by Lisbon based @filmbyloulou from her fantastic Ibiza series.
Created using Gamblin oil paints mixed with linseed oil, the work is painted onto stretched linen mounted on recycled timber made into stretching bars.
The work has a rich texture and broken brushwork that reflects both the movement and calm of the sea. A piece designed to bring a sense of the coast and open horizon into your space.
