Artist Bio

Rita is a regional artist who began her artistic journey drawing on the humble beginnings of the Curlwaa clay. She grew up in Sunraysia and moved to Melbourne to study Science, Languages and the Arts.

Rita has been recognised for her portraiture as a finalist in the prestigious Lester Art Prize (2023), The Hornsby Art Prize (2025) and The Outback Archie’s (2021).
Her landscape work has been selected to hang in Brunswick Street Gallery (2014) and Tin Alley Gallery (2019).
She held her first solo exhibition ‘On Motherhood’ in 2023 at The Mildura Arts Centre.

Today her work spans 43 exhibitions at 10 galleries in Australia and Singapore.
She has had 4 significant publications and exhibited with VAMFF.
Her work is motivated by environmental and political activism and she enjoys collaborative creative projects in culture and the arts.

She works mainly in the mediums of acrylic, oil, ink, graphite, clay, wood, couture and film.
Rita takes selected commissions both public and private.
