The first in a series of large scale charcoal pieces, 1m X 1.5m, depicting the earthy beauty of the Banksia.
Australia is home to a wonderful variety of native flora and fauna, including unique and interestingly evolved plants such as the banksia. The shape and texture of the banksia seed pods are unmistakable and lend themselves so beautifully to be depicted in the earthy tones of charcoal.
Ro often walks the famous coastal walk between Manly Beach and the Spit Bridge in Sydney, crossing through national park at Middle Head. Here the artist is enthralled by the number and variety of native plants and often spends hours photographing and admiring the landscape.
This piece is the first of a set that are equally as well displayed individually as side-by-side.
