Based on the Sunshine Coast , the inspiration for Roberts painting stems from his years of living and working in tropical regions of Asia, and from his early life in regional New South Wales.
He is also deeply influenced by his years of experience among the people, culture and natural environments of Sabah, Brunei, China, India, Bangladesh, and the Philippines. Each work evolves as he draws on these memories – his love of nature, and the deep cultural influences of his more than 40 years of travel. He expresses these influences through both his paintings and his photography.
