Artwork Description

A brooding evening sky forms the background to a darkened thicket of snow gums. The work is inspired by the Snowy Mountains in NSW. I wanted to paint a moody, cinematic piece; powerful, rather than pretty. My medium is oil, painted on an acrylic wash.

I am an Art teacher and have been painting for over 25 years. I paint exclusively in acrylic (sometimes with oil glazes). I am interested in narrative in art. In my more contemplative work, I try to present a 'back story' with the hope the viewer will find the work intriguing. I paint murals, furniture, scenic art and fine art commissions. I have a background in film making , so I try to instill a filmic quality into my work.
