Robyn Buchanan has been painting in one form or another since childhood. After having discovered Folk Art & Decorative Painting in 1998 she turned it into a vocation. In 2006 she received her Teacher Accreditation and has continued to teach since. During 2013, Robyn completed her Diploma in Iconography and recently in 2016 completing a Diploma in Art & Design.
Over the years Robyn has appeared in several issues of the Australian Fine Art & Decorative Painting magazine, as well as being included in the Australian Artist magazine and the Artist Palette. Robyn has won several awards in both the Folk Art and Decorative Painting (sections of the Royal Adelaide Show over the past several years); Robyn has also been blessed to win the People’s Choice Art Award in 2008 held by the Salisbury council. Robyn has also won and got placing at The Royal Adelaide show for several Fine Art pieces.
Robyn’s designs are drawn from the older forms of art; Robyn’s favorite style of painting would be the Zhostovo- “Russian Folk Art”, also she would have to include the Flemish Method in fine art. Robyn uses several mediums such as Acrylics, Oils and Tempera, She creates her own designs and she is able to teach many different styles and mediums. One of the current loves is Frakturs, which is a simplified version of calligraphy with the additions of Folk Art illuminations on manuscripts. Several Paintings are sold to Private Collectors.
