Robyn Hill is an Australian artist based on Phillip Island, Victoria, known for her vibrant, textured paintings and sculptures. Robyn discovered her passion for art at a young age, starting with clay sculpture. The textures and forms of her sculptural works would go on to influence her later painting style.
Robyn moved to Phillip Island, drawn by the rugged natural beauty of the coastal landscape. The textures and colors of the land, sea, and sky inspired a new period in her art. Her paintings became infused with layers of vibrant hues and thick, tactile brushstrokes that evoked the textures of clay. She often incorporated sculpted aspects like shells or rugged rock formations into the landscapes to add further dimension to her work.
The natural surroundings of Phillip Island has become Robyn's constant source of inspiration since taking up a full time studio space in 2023. She explores the landscape through regular hikes to photograph inspiration, capturing the nuances of light and colour. Back in her studio, these images evolve into more expressive abstract paintings. The natural world continues to inspire Robyn's experimental approach across different mixed media.
Robyn Hill’s most recent solo exhibition was in November 2023, titled ‘Vibrant Island’ and was inspired by the rugged, textured and natural brilliance of Phillip Island. Robyn incorporated her favourite aspects of the island into this collection. Spectacular sunsets, mystical auroras and iconic animals.
Robyn is available for commissions.
