Artwork Description

This abstract painting was influenced by flowers in spring time. I love the sometimes random effect of silk that has been painted with salt applied to create texture.

Artist Bio

Robyn Jackson is an Australian contemporary colourist and textile artist whose practice explores the reflection of light, local flora and fauna and the natural landscape. Deeply connected to the Australian environment—from the sprawling, rich tones of the Outback to the fluid rhythms of the East Coast beaches, to the beauty of her surrounding bush gardens—her work translates the ordinary into the extraordinary, consistently evoking a joyful and uplifting emotional response from viewers.

Fascinated by colour, design, and fabrics from an early age, Robyn began her creative journey experimenting with batik before formalizing her studies with a degree in Textiles and Design. Following a dedicated career as a textile’s educator, she transitioned to a full-time studio practice. While skilled in oils, acrylics and watercolours, her signature medium is painting on silk. Captivated by the fluidity of the dyes as they flow, blend, and react, Robyn utilizes a precise gutta outline technique combined with a vivid, complementary palette to build high-contrast, layered narratives. Robyn has been painting on silk her favoured medium for over 45 years.

An award-winning artist with eleven solo exhibitions to her credit, Jackson has exhibited widely across regional New South Wales. Her artistic merit has been recognized with the First Prize in Painting at the Crescent Head Surf Art Exhibition, Second in Mixed Media at Hastings Fine Art Exhibition, Highly Commended and Commended in The Adelaide Swift Memorial Art Awards Exhibition at the South West Rocks ,NSW and
selection in the prestigious Northern Exposure 6 biennial at the Glasshouse Regional Gallery. Port Macquarie. NSW

Based on the Mid North Coast at Crescent Head , Robyn works from her home studio gallery, creating original artworks, fine art prints, and hand-painted silks scarves, while sharing her expertise through regular silk painting masterclasses. Robyn has sold over 189 paintings held in private collections across Australia.
