This chaotic year led me back to more introspective work where I am listening to thoughts in my head and to the stories of others. I needed to go back to a beginning, uncluttered and calm, devoid of suggestive imagery. This work was mediative in its creation yet emotionally loaded. Shifting Ground has some sand added to give texture. The sides of the canvas can be painted black if preferred.
