The collection known as the Salzburg Series was created at a summer school I attended in Salzburg, Austria. The workshop was held in the fortress there, inside the walls of the fifteenth century building, It was an inspiring place to create art.
The Salzburg Series was a response in etching to the abstract paintings of Mark Rothko, whose elements of colour and references to sacred art resonated for me with the medieval space of the Salzburg castle.
There I learned to make large prints from copper plates and print them on archival paper using the artists' etching presses. Previously, these reproductions on archival paper have only been made available to friends and colleagues. But now the best of this work I can offer for sale in limited edition prints ready for framing.
