Artwork Description

Use of soft colours with a bold and more striking focal point. This artwork looks better in person. Originally it was my intention to have darker layers toward the middle of the painting, representing the magical world that is always there waiting for us at arms length. However, I paint with a collector in mind, meaning to say that I intuitively lean toward soft colours that brighten your room, but also bring calm to a home. This is the kind of painting that will make you smile on the inside when you walk past just because of it colourful details and little textures that you can only see when standing up close. It will change the feeling of the room it's in because of its large size but use of colours that are by contrast not overbearing.

This painting will suit a room with neutral colours or a room with splashes of colour as depicted in the photos. It will also look really "enriched" or more bold with a feature wall for example a pine green. If you choose a dark colour next to it, such as a black frame, it will highlight the stem area of the flowers and the centre point where the flowers are emerging from the vase. A natural or white or slightly darker wood will maintain a balanced harmonious aspect.

It is acrylic on canvas with central areas of the painting have a layer of oil on top which also adds to the longevity.

It is varnished, which also adds a layer of protection.

It is a tall painting standing 1.5 metres tall.

This painting comes rolled, allowing you to frame it at your local framers with a frame of your choice that will suit your decor. Alternatively, if you choose to have it framed (option available at check out) then it will be framed and delivered to you ready to hang.

This painting is signed on the front, and signature on the back, it also comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Artist Bio

I am a part time abstract artist living an hour outside of Melbourne. I have loved painting and other forms of creative expression all my life. I am in constant awe of the colours in the natural world and I am forever exploring this by creating beautiful colour combinations in each artwork that is inspired by what I see in the Australian landscape.

I use high quality paints that create more vibrancy, and build beautiful colour combinations through multiple layers. I love being in the process of painting; thinking ahead as I build background layers of soft, neutral tones that I know will compliment the juicy, more textured final layers of the painting. The dynamic nature of oil paint glazes and opaque finishes is also what creates such depth and beautiful textures in my artwork.

I also believe in the power of creative expression, that it will shift stagnant energy, creating harmony and flow, and I constantly feel the affects of this on a personal level. I enjoy the free expression of abstract creations and also occasionally will render form that reflects the beauty in the natural world, such as flowers, the beautiful ocean and beachside of Australian culture, or the natural colours of fruits and plants.
The subject matter I explore is often a reflection of the vitality existent in the natural world and how we are connected to it, as well as, of course, the beautiful colours we find here in Australia.
Each painting is finished with a gloss varnish, giving it a lovely finish that accentuates the vibrancy of the colours and also gives it longevity and protection.
