Artwork Description

"The Cats of Aoishma" by Rochelle Toomey

Original watercolour painting

I was inspired by the story of the cats of Aoishma and how they were brought onto the island originally to kill the vermin. Nowadays, they are looked after by the handful of residents of the island. As you pull up at the wharf, the cats greet you as they lie about lazily on the dock. This painting is mounted and framed.

The artist often takes inspiration from architecture, nature and landscapes that take the viewer on a journey and bring feelings of warmth and contentment.

This piece was  painted by the artist using professional watercolour grade paints and small details in pencil  on Arches cold pressed 300 gsm watercolour paper. The artist only uses light-fast supplies of the highest standard to ensure the piece retains its vibrancy and quality.

Signed on the back with 1.0 cm border for framing
