Study of the studio dog , part a of a series of works concentrating on the use of fluid line work and contrasting tonal qualities using charcoal and gouache wash. I have always maintained the importance of drawing , firstly as an observational tool and secondly a powerful expressive medium that can identify the artist as clearly as ones signature. I enjoy looking at the wonderful drawings of Degas, Hockney and Holbein
