Artwork Description

Acrylic on stretched canvas, ready to hang.

Signed on the front.

A narrative and whimsical interpretation of the John Oxley 1824 Journal. The works present a lyrical and romantic observation of Oxley’s struggle with the landscape, the river and his boat. For me, the Oxley River saga in his boat is a metaphor for life - Its meaning changes with the density of the lines, the combination of colours mixed - colours have vitality. Like life.

#John Oxley 1824 - a man in his boat, #Narrative art is art that tells a story as a sequence of events unfolding over time, #a style of painting marked by openness of form, #with shapes distinguished by variations of colour rather than by outline or contour. Whimsical art is a vibrant and playful style of art that is childlike and carefree.
