Artwork Description

Acrylic on stretched canvas, ready to hang.

Signed on the front.

Most human beings have five fingers on each hand and five toes on each foot. Additionally, the senses that we use to experience and enjoy life are five in number: the sense of smell, touch, sight, hearing, and taste.
For this reason, the number five has been accorded with regard by different cultures, disciplines, and religions for centuries. It’s no surprise, therefore, that the symbolic meanings attached to the digit are endless.
Ancient Greeks believed that five elements make up the universe. These elements are earth, water, air, fire, and ether or spirit. This concept was passed on to the medieval alchemists and later was adopted by the Neopagan religions.

The most perfect number was one, for by advancing from zero to one men believed they proceeded from nonexistence to existence. Moreover, all other whole numbers were regarded as multiples of one, representative of the Creator, the Prime Mover, of the universe. In 1965 Lord Mayor Clem Jones commissioned a study by American transport consultants Wilbur Smith and Associates which recommended replacing Brisbane’s trams with diesel buses and building a system of freeways! Boooo !!Three is the first number to which the meaning “all” was given. It is The Triad, being the number of the whole as it contains the beginning, a middle and an end. The power of three is universal and is the tripartide nature of the world as heaven, earth, and waters. It is human as body, soul and spirit.REDDISH FLASH ON AN ASURE SEA
