Original Artwork's Description

I love seeing the gum trees that line Christies Road come alive with blossoms in late spring - a sign that summer is on its way. Again, I wanted to challenge myself with the unusual and quaint fluffy flowers mixed in with the gumnut "buds", their smooth round lids or "operculum" shining in the late morning light.

This little painting is more minimalist than usual, but the tiny fragments of magenta under-painting peeking through, the distinct shadow from the green arched vase, and three happy blossoms give it life and interest, and I can understand May Gibbs fascination with these beloved Australian flowers :)

Painted in oils with love. xx

Artist Bio

Rohani Le Rossignol is an artist and textile designer from the Bellarine Peninsula. With a background in Graphic Design, fashion and illustration, and a love of art, craft, and nature, her work explores the wonders of the natural world around us and celebrates the beauty of nature.
