Oil on stretched canvas, ready to hang.
Signed on the back.
Capturing my mothers wonderful Spider Chrysanthemums in dramatic afternoon light with very interesting shadow play. The patterned surface was inspired by a combination of my favorite Anna Chandler place-mats, and also the tribal art of Borneo - a reference to my mothers Sarawakian heritage.
I'm listing this piece less than my other paintings of this size as I experimented with a Mont Marte canvas which has a slightly larger weave than my usual high end canvases. Hand gessoed with three layers, as well under-painted in acrylics - it is still lovely, sturdy and smooth - just with a more visible weave than usual (as you can see in photos).
Painted in oils with love. xx
