Artwork Description

A beautiful specimen of protea from the large tree in my front garden. Proteas are one of my favourite subjects for still life, and I always look forward to Autumn when this wonderful tree is covered in an abundance of blooms.

I particularly enjoy the lighting in this image - the way it hits the flower and my favourite teacup, and shines through the leaves . The table top is alive with chatter from the happy, quirky, budgies from my own “rainbow budgie” fabric (a textile design I created from my loose water colour illustrations.)

I have photographed the painting in a few settings to try and give a better idea of what it looks like in the real. A darker green background in diffused light - further away from window, and a vibrant sap/olive green closer to the window..

A stunning statement piece and conversation starter, perfect for any nature lover 💚
Painted in oils with love xx
