Artwork Description

There is a quiet honesty in horses that has always drawn me to them. Their strength is undeniable, yet it is often their gentleness, trust and soulful presence that leaves the deepest impression.

Created with flowing ink, layered acrylics and expressive marks, this painting explores that balance of power and vulnerability. Rather than capturing every detail, I wanted to convey the spirit behind the gaze—the calm confidence and silent connection that horses so naturally possess. There is something spiritual about being close to a horse. I have captured the soulful expression in his eyes using a combination of loose watery acrylic paint and fine details in indian ink. I have combined loose flowing paint and fine detail.

Artist Bio

The subjects I paint are the ones that make me stop and look twice—a curious cockatoo, a gathering of native blooms, the graceful curve of a eucalyptus branch or the joyful abundance of fruit in full colour. My paintings are a celebration of nature's beauty and the quiet moments that so often go unnoticed.

Painting has been woven through every stage of my life. Growing up in the Blue Mountains nurtured a lifelong appreciation for Australia's remarkable birds, botanicals and landscapes, while a background in Graphic Design and Photography refined my eye for colour, composition and storytelling. Although I've explored many creative paths, I've always found myself happiest with a paintbrush in hand.

Working across both realistic and expressive styles, I paint primarily in acrylic on canvas, allowing each subject to evolve in its own way. Whether carefully detailed or loosely interpreted, my work is inspired by a desire to capture not only what I see, but what I feel—a sense of wonder, joy and connection to the natural world.

Today I paint from my home studio in Sydney's northern beaches, where every piece begins with curiosity and a love of colour. Every painting is an invitation to pause, smile and reconnect with the beauty that surrounds us.
