Artwork Description

Griselda is a contemporary portrait that explores presence and inner strength through colour rather than realism. The artist uses expressive mark-making and carefully balanced tones to suggest a life lived — thoughtful, grounded, and quietly resilient. The work invites a personal connection, allowing the viewer to project their own story onto Griselda, making her both individual and universal. This original artwork is available exclusively through Bluethumb.

Artist Bio

Born Germany 1943. Gabye Bissett migrated to Australia 1948.
Gabye says: I am an Australian artist working primarily in botanical and nature-inspired subjects, drawn to colour, rhythm and the quiet presence of the natural world.
My work explores the structure and personality of plants — sometimes interpreted freely, sometimes rendered more specifically — with an emphasis on harmony, movement and balance.
Painting is, for me, both a reflective and joyful process. I aim to create works that bring a sense of calm, warmth and life into a space, inviting the viewer to pause and look more closely.
Each piece is an original, created with care and intention in my studio, and I hope my work offers lasting enjoyment to those who live with it.
