Japan is one of my favourite countries. I lived there as a kid and back in early 2019 I holidayed there with my family. I left Japan in the mid 80s so obviously a lot had changed. But customs and the kindness of people remained. And along with an array of modern architecture, the traditional still prevailed. Shooting on film gave me a sense of nostalgia and the fact I like to challenge myself with just the one shot of any subject makes it sweeter when the images turn out better than expected.
This gorgeous statue was on the way to a beautiful park we visited, Kichijoji. A park recommended by a friend that is slightly off the tourist beaten track.
This image is a part of a series of work entitled Konnichiwa I exhibited in early 2020.
