MUSHROOMS & CHILLIES
I painted the chillies and mushrooms from life as an exercise in still life to train my eye rather than painting from a photograph. The result was rather pleasing and I won a Highly Commended at the local show for this painting.
APPLES & PEARS
This also is a small painting and work of art which I was originally painting for an exercise. The aim of the exercise was to train my eye to observe apples and pears and be able to paint them from life. Originally I had a light yellow green background which just didn't do it justice so I changed it to a dark brown which immediately made the fruit stand out and make a much better painting. It is the companion painting to "Mushrooms and Chillies" the same size and similar colourings so the 2 paintings look stunning as a pair on the wall.
