I painted this picture for an Art Exhibition and the theme for the exhibition was "Phoenix" I had this idea as a picture in my mind of hexagons floating over a horizon depicting a dawning of a new day hence the title "Out of the Ashes a New Era Dawns" I think I executed my vision fairly well. It was a delight to paint but tedious as I had to be exacting with the hexagons but the colours just worked really well and I was pleased with the result. Many hours of work and a one off. It was pleasing that the painting received a Highly Commended in the Exhibition.
